Before reading why not click through a few pictures to give you a sample of
our school - after all, a picture is said be worth a thousand words!
Entrance through the 'glade' managed by our gardening club. One of our classes before the children arrive. Another classroom with books being prepared for the day. Another ICT suite showing work on Basildon, one of our regular topics. Our new gym, shared with the infants school and local community clubs, it has a demountable partition down the middle. The gym seems even bigger from inside! Our garden which is maintained by the gardening club delivers a variety of flowers and produce. There are several outside areas to stimulate our children during breaks. Some areas are more suited to sitting and conversing. ... or with the nautical theme letting the imagination run away. Large play areas are also available, this one showing the view towards some of our modern classroms and the gym in the background. Some areas are purely for escaping and relaxing. And so back to the entrance. We hope you have enjoyed this mini-tour.

East Tilbury Junior School is a modern building consisting of twelve classrooms
that lead off from the assembly hall, plus two demountable classrooms.
After four years in the junior School children at 11+ usually transfer to St
Clere’s School in Stanford-le-Hope. Children normally join the school at the age
of 7+. These new entrants are invited to spend some part of a school day
in the Junior School in the half-term prior to transfer. Junior School
Teachers also visit the Infant School to meet the children and discuss transfer
arrangements with the Infant School Teachers. Parents are invited to a
meeting in the school to familiarise themselves with new surroundings and school
policies.
A number of events are held during the year so that teachers may liaise with
our St Clere’s Colleagues. Year 6 pupils are invited to spend a week
at St. Clere’s and their junior school teachers accompany them. There is a
close liaison between St Clere’s and this school.

Since 1st September 2008 the school has enjoyed Foundation Status. This
status gives the school greater flexibility in addressing local needs and in
developing local collaboration. You can learn more at the Foundation &
Aided Schools National Association website here.
Our Statutory Collaboration partners are St Clere's Secondary School in
Stanford-le-Hope and East Tilbury Infants School. Although we have long
worked together with these schools, since 19th November 2007 the collaboration
has moved to a new dimension as the relationship has been formalised in line
with recent government initiatives. These initiatives are designed to
improve service delivery and standards giving children greater access to a wider
range of opportunities than might have been achieved without such collaboration.

The school aims:
-
To offer a broad, balanced, relevant curriculum within which every child can
develop and equip themselves for the challenges of their future life.
- To create an environment in which the child can
happily reach his or her full potential, intellectually, emotionally,
spiritually, socially and physically
- To provide a stimulating environment which will
challenge the child to enquire, investigate and master new ideas and tasks.
- To help the child use English and Mathematical skills
effectively, to understand the world in which we live and to appreciate
human achievements in the arts, music, science, literature, humanities and
technology
- To foster a respect for the views and moral values of
all races, religions and ways of life in order for them to take their place
in a multi-cultural society To create an atmosphere in which each child
knows that he or she is important and has a contribution to make and a
responsibility to his/her environment.
- To give each child the opportunity to develop the
qualities of leadership, independence, confidence and aesthetic awareness.
